20 Oct We need to talk about ratings
Today, we’ve got a simple video concept that every expert/personal brand account needs to be trying right now. This could easily be adapted to a brand account, and we’ve seen similar concepts perform well with ads.
Anyway, here’s the brief:
The Expert Rating Concept
- State what you’re rating w/ a clear title hook
- Receive rapid fire prompts from a voice off screen
- Give a rating and quick commentary or quip about each
- Create highs and lows to start conversation
In the last session of Cut30 alone, we had TONS of experts get 6 and even 7 figure view videos with this simple structure. Here are a few examples:
- Reynolds the Dentist pulled down 10M+ views across 4 of them
- Shelley the baker grabbed 105k talking about cream cheese
- A general contractor grabbed another 104k talking about siding
This concept easily applies to any niche, but before you run off to make yours, take note of what makes the Dentist’s video go nuclear and pull down millions of views. Check out his structure:

TL;DR – He mentions fluoride right out of the gate and stirs up convo.
The key here is pulling at viewers’ strings with your rating. Each one sparking a “told you so!” or “I can’t believe they just said that!” type of reaction for the viewer, and in the comment section.

Tag us if you make one of these videos, we’d love to see it.
